Tips & Techniques – Creating Custom Titles

There are a few simple ways to create Custom Titles for your LO’s.

These days, with the advent of Digital Die Cutting systems like the Cricut, the Craft Robo or the Xyron (to name a few), you don’t even need to do more than flip a switch to get the title you need.

Unfortunately, those machines can be a bit pricy and often you can achieve a title for your Lo with little or no effort and looks just as good (if not better).

Chipboard letters, of course, are great and can be layered over the top of any surface. You can ink them, sand them, paint them or even stamp them.

My favoourite way to create a custom title is to use some large stamps. You can get some great stamps out there that have whole words in the packs – and they are quite large – here are some that I know of:

* See Dee’s (I used their new set which retails for $20 and has 6 words in the set)

* Fancy Pants

* Making Memories

In this example, I simply stamped the word “Sparkle” onto cardstock, then cut tightly around the shape of the word. I inked it softly using Pinecone Ink, then adhered it to another piece of coloured cardstock. I cut tightly around that, and inked it again. This helps keep the title “plaque” firm and, if you are going to mount it off the surface like I have done, it keeps a straight shape.

Once the ink is dry, I just run over the top of the letters with dark Kindy Glitz (I used Black), leave it to dry and you’re done!
