So you are stuck in a scrapping rut and/or you have soooooooo many papers and things you just don’t know where to start in choosing the materials for a layout.
I once heard some great tips from a Fashion and Interior Designer – this tip can be applied to your scrapping stash as well.
In essence, the tip described how you should have a wardrobe and house full of the basics in colours and tones, and then ACCESSORISE with single colours using the 60/30/10 rule…That is, have your good black pants, your several different cuts of white shirt, your tones of blues and reds and have ONE or TWO ONLY of accent colours to make your wardrobe POP.
Your scrapping papers can be seen in the same light.
Have a plentiful supply of white, black and Kraft or brown coloured cardstock. Then sort your papers into neutrals and tones; then reds and pinks; purples and blues; oranges and yellows.
When you are stuck, go for the neutrals and tones pile of papers FIRST. Only then should you sort through you other piles and grab ONLY ONE other piece of paper in another colour. You can always pick up more of that colour in your embellishments.
Some fave colour combos of mine are:
- Red and Black
- Pale Pink and Sage Green
- Deep Purple and Burnt Orange
- Chocolate Brown and Pale Blue
- Black, White and Red
- White, Pale Blue and a touch of Red

Stumble It!
